DIY To Detect Current Leak In Car

Hi All,

This time i'd like to show your a simple way to detect current leak in car.
If your battery will be weak after a day or two or even a weak,
this probably some device in your car is eating battery charge even though  you already pull out your key.

Some mechanic know this method but unfortunately most of them are not.
They would like to tell you the battery or alternator is faulty.

Pull out your car key.
Make sure all equipments are switched off.
Disconnect negative terminal.
You can do this on positive terminal whichever easier to do.

Either red or black probe connect to the ground connector.
And either red or black connect to the battery terminal.
It doesn't matter which probes are to connect to which place.

This is important part.
You need to set your multimeter to current measurement mode.
Make sure your multimeter is able to measure current up to 10 A.
Pay attention on the red circles.

My car shows around 0.82A leaking current which is normal due to the alarm system.
Even more than two weeks without engine start, it can crank easily.

Good Luck and Happy DIY!

Honda Accord CD6 Brake Disk Rotor Replacement

This article came from my friend blog.
'I' here is 'him' .

The disc have Refinishing Limit or skimming limit.
Usually they call skim disc.

This is Service Manual Book CD7-CD9, Accord SV4 Coupe

While I dont have CD6 reference,
I decided to refer to Prelude service manual
which the disc size is same because the same engine code H22A

Prelude 93 Service Manual with H22A Engine

I changed the disc first before refer to service manual.
The manual said the Maximum Refininshing Limit is 21.0 mm.

Measured approximately 21.0mm.

The disc need to be changed.
Actually my father never done anything to this car.
I had these disc 2 times skimmed.
Experienced people said, the disc can be skimmed 2 times only or the disc can be warped or risky to crack.
Better change before you hit other car.
The reason i changed is the steering will vibrate while braking.

Diameter of CD6 H22A.
Mr  Jamaluddin had changed his disc and i asked the shop info for me to buy.

Like OEM. BREMBO.

I forgot to take note the part number.

I took this change to replace both lower ball joint.

Price:
Pair Brembo 11inch Fr Rotor : RM 350

HWL Honda Prelude BA5 Absorber

This is the 1 set of HWL Adjustable for Honda Prelude BA5 body.
Top mounting or pillow ball are not included.

Provided guide manual for front unit.

Provided guide manual for rear unit.

Comparison between adjustable and standard absorber.

One of the advantages for adjustable absorber is the serviceable feature.
We can send back to HWL factory and they will service and replace necessary part.

My friend. Practical student. hehe..

Very easy to install. Just need basic tool.

One problem for this absorber, they dont have hook to hold the brake hose line.
Very dangerous and you need some idea to protect the hose as the absorber will touching the hose.

The rear standard absorber. Needs allen key to hold the center rod.
Do it on the grass as the spring will kicking out the absorber.

Rear unit.

Reuse the standard top mounting.
If you have budget, buy after market pillow ball.

I use car rubber hose to protect the brake hose.
Try to turn the steering to make sure this idea is good.
Other way is to buy braided hose.

Honda Prelude BA5 AC Blower Motor Service

Hello To all DIYers!!!
This time i'd like to show you how to fully service or overhaul
the AC blower unit before you send your car for AC service.

You can use what ever method want.
I used light grease or anti rust spray to remove oily stain.

Top and bottom.

Use some sand paper to help to remove any rust together with the anti-rust spray.
Very helpful in fastening the process.

In digital climate AC controller,
it uses power transistor instead of power resistor for analog AC controller.

Power transistor.

Power resistor.

Dirty blower motor.
Couple of years without service or cleaning.

Check the the two carbon brushes.
Don't hesitate to replace or modify them if they are worn.

The copper part on the right is the commutator bar.
It will be touching the carbon brushes to conduct current.
Check also for wear and tear.

Cleaned up.

For motor assembly use some soft tie wire or anything to hold the carbon brush in place.

Easy enough with this method.
The tie wires can be removed.

Some tool i used to assemble the motor.

Put the motor steadily.

Put the 'L' into the housing to avoid the magnet from attract the motor,.

Assembled.

Fasten the screws. The yellow colour area.

I sprayed the metal part with anti-rust paint.
2-3 layers to prevent any rust build.

Cleaned like refurbished.

The black box is the servo motor to open flap to let the outside air into cabin.
I locked it since the AC Controller panel is unable to signal the servo motor.

Almost like new.

Flap Servo Motor.

Ready to be installed in car.

Blow like new.
The high speed draws current about 8-9 Amp.
Be careful not to turn to full speed most of the time.

Good Luck!
